The Smart Trailer USA XL has aluminum decks and aluminum ramps.  It is similar in design to the Smart Trailer USA, but is longer.  It is available in 4 models.  The trailer weigh varies from about 800 to 1100  lbs.  It offers greatly reduced maintenance by eliminating any need for painting rust spots on the steel ramps or decks due to wear and tear.  And besides, it just looks great! 

In deciding which model suits you best, measure your vehicle's overall length, from bumper to bumper.  Add 2' to that and round up to the next size trailer.  For example, if your car is 13' long, you need a 16' deck, NOT a 14' deck because you need the room to maneuver on the trailer.  The choice is yours, as is the responsibility for the decision.

If you want to be able to carry either a smart car or another car, be sure to add item STXL-XTD, Extra Tiedown Rings for the STXL, to your order.

The trailer itself is made of steel, but with aluminum enhancements.  Included components are:

  Dual diamond plate aluminum wheel decks with all-round 2-inch steel outer safety guide plates.
  Dual diamond plate aluminum locking ramps.
  Tandem 3500 pound capacity cambered axles and suspension.
  Length by model:
        XL12 - 12' deck + 4' tongue = 16' overall - for vehicles under 10' long, bumper to bumper.
        XL14 - 14' deck + 4' tongue = 18' overall - for vehicles under 12' long, bumper to bumper.
        XL16 - 16' deck + 4' tongue = 20' overall - for vehicles under 14' long, bumper to bumper.
        XL18 - 18' deck + 4' tongue = 22' overall - for vehicles under 16' long, bumper to bumper.
  The tongue height is 18" from the ground to the top of the 2" ball coupler.
  2-wheel electric brakes (requires on-vehicle brake controller from your RV dealer - we can do it if you pick up your trailer here).
  Breakaway switch for activation of electric brakes and brake lights.
  Loading ramps are stowed inside the trailer and pull out easily. (They can be removed for maintenance).
  Industry standard 7-way electrical connector.
  The front jack and safety chains are at the front of the tongue.
  15 inch steel wheel (white).

AND, if you also plan to sometimes haul a smart fortwo on this trailer, you will need to add 4 additional tiedowns.  Add part STXL-XTD.
